FORCED CONSCIOUSNESS
January 1999

Keep awake ---
eyes burning ---
won’t open ---
light bright ---
remember ---
remember what? ---
Where was I up to?  --- Oh, yes ---
Where was I up to again? ---
What was I doing? ---
What am I doing? ---
Must finish this ---
What is this? ---
Must finish it ---
Where am I up to? ---
Who am I? --
Why am I? ---
Wordsworth that he was killed ---
But he wasn’t killed ---
Who wasn’t killed?
He.
He wasn’t killed. ---
I think
therefore I yam
Yams stink
Pink yams stink ---
Yink stams ink ---
Yams think
therefore they yam ---
no, they yaa ---
Ja ---
René Descartes ---
Dey cart it away in heaps - sleep
came ---
saw ---
and conquered.

Oh, those moments!

and each sporatic thought
the spur of a poem.

Diana

I think I've been there....in fact many times.  Much enjoyed the twinkle and serious of it.

For it was not into my ear you whispered
But into my heart..
It was not my lips you kissed
But my soul.

loved getting caught
in your muse's sleep cycle
words floating
or jabbing, stabbing
streams of unconsciousness
giving you fits
and bits and pieces

leaving you with loose ends to tie up
the morning after

"I think
therefore I yam"

Delightful Diana and somehow so familiar... I think...

Smiles and thanks to all of you - Karilea, Martie, Nancy, Dixie, Kacy and Kate.  I am glad you all enjoyed it.  I loved your responses.  Yes, fighting sleep and losing - I lose to sleep faster every time!
