Listening to every heart

Early on in Passions [9/7/99] I posted this in tribute of our military...as I searched for "quiet" today, as my mind comes up with nothing new to share, I found this.  It is slightly revised from the original. I do hope it will give you a little "peace and quiet" for your soul.KRJ

To The Heroes

Through the news I heard you’d passed away;
as if by God’s hand the skies turned gray.
Now memories are mine, they've come to stay
because you, my hero, have no more to say.

I know you’d rather a hero’s mantle not wear
but I’ve placed it o’er your shoulders with care
for when decisions were needed, you’d not spare
a moment’s breath, you would rise to ensnare

the villain that came with threats to impart
and seeing evil in villain’s cold, cruel heart,
because you were trained well and so complete
the villains left quickly their pilot’s seat.

A suit of armor was your uniformed cloth
caring for all men, take the villain at “no cost”,
whether your life hung upon the thin balanced brim
your only thought to rid us of him.

Today is too, too quiet, the ground cold and still
a hero today buried, and now a United will
that a fight be fought over lands thus caught
between the religions of men, for Peace that is sought.

~*~

To all of those, who have given us Freedom.God Bless.

A beautiful, heartfelt poem from a kind hearted person. Thank you for reposting this. I don't think I read it the first time.

The earth now stilled,  the headstone laid
beneath an oak, such gallant shade.
a warrior tall now lying beneath
a rose covered  vine woven wreath.

The earth now quiet,  the soil now tilled
fallen another,  a moment God willed.
Hero they call you 'neath that grey stone
Lying silent yet not alone.

Thank You Karilea for giving us something
so beautiful and fitting for the moment.

For those who go in harm's way, may we ever hold them dear...and remember those who didn't come back.
Nicely done.  Ken

Through rubble and trouble and dark of night
The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light

I'm glad that you brought this poem back to surface at this very appropriate time of year because most poems (this one's certainly included) should be given much more respect than simply one reading.

I love what you've written about the desire of the hero to remain unsung here because it's so representative of heroes and their big big hearts. I think it's probably very true that most heroes if not all really don't desire the praise and recognition, but it's such a wonderful and most deserving blessing that we do give them praise and recognition anyway.

Enjoyed reading and God bless.
