I don't like the poet I've become
slapping words on paper
critical to the point of destruction
blocked...blocked.
no time to let things simmer
no time to let things flow
I can't seem to touch the poet
I once used to think I was
Now it's all just drivel
dripping from a stuttering pen
like hieroglyphics to my
untrained eye
thoughts like trash blowing on the highway
unheeded unkempt unruly
or like a rowdy two year old
never pausing long enough to taste
to feel
to learn
to bleed
No I don't like this poet
this hard unfeeling poet
I don't like this poet
anymore

aw, don't be so hard on yourself Paula!
But if you seek to change directions?
take that first step
knowing YOU are the one in control,
not the random words
that float out there
for the grabbing.

If you have discovered a problem.
Then it has a solution too.

But this is a great, very expressive write!
Maybe a niche??

Unfeeling, my foot!  This, I think, is the first I have seen of you, and I like the poem very much.

Well, I do.  When we acknowledge
our foibles and accept ourselves,
we come to realize [or at least,
I do, for I've penned many a scribble]

that when we allow ourselves
this basic anger at not being able
to follow through with our passion...

it is also to acknowledge our
humanity.

As well as our humble.

Paula, just because the words
don't seem to be there now,
for you...
doesn't mean that they are gone.

I'm still counting on my
Grandma Moses days that I
expect...and look forward to
enjoying!

I hope you will too.

I think it's just the frustration of not being able to focus on writing...too many things pulling in too many directions. Oh too have the freedom to spend my days with pen in hand...thanks to you all
