If I rained down as drops of wine from a blood-red sky,
Oh Sweet Love, would your lips then catch me?
And would it be only to quench your self-righteous thirst-
Or, out of pity, to break my fall?
[I've been inside your eyes at nightfall.]

Would you dance with me if I were the thunder that made your dear earth tremble?
Would you sing to me a lullabye?
Oh Love, would you carry me away on the wings of darkness upon your back?
[Sometimes I wonder if you're strong enough.]

Oh please allow me to close my weary eyes and dream of you,
For you will always save me from the shadows of my nightmares-
Please say you'll be my hero.
[I feel those shadows drawing near.]

Just once I'd like to make you as weak as you make me-
With trembling knees and my name spilling out of the breath you'd breathe for me...
[For my *sake* you'd breathe for me.]

If only I could paint my love with words,
I'd carve them into the face of the moon and make them shine.
[Tender white light in the dead of night.]

I'd give it all to be worthy of you,
I'd never again slowdance with the tide,
Or fly away on shooting stars of freedom...

Just breathe me deep down into your blesséd soul,
So I can curl up safe and warm inside your heart.
[Don't leave me lost in your eyes at nightfall.]

And so it those we live with
and should know who elude us
But we can still love them
we can love completely

Don't bring me down now,
let me stay here for awhile
You know life's too short,
let me bathe here in your smile.

Very intriguing write.  But as I read this verse the very first thing that came to mind
was the movie Forrest Gump.  I can’t put my finger on it but I think it was one of the sayings Forrest would quote throughout the story.  Hummmmm…  Darn, I wish I could remember.  Anyway… Have a nice weekend, and I hope you celebrate and enjoy Independence Day.
