Meet me in the moaning cave,
take me by the hand.
I will be your willing guide
into this mysterious adventure land.
Enter within this hearth of Mother Earth,
where touch is all that matters.

Listen to your own wildly beating heart;
drumbeats and thunder cannot compete.
Fiery ovens of Hades have less heat
than the glow of self-acceptance you shall meet.
No need for light in caress of midnight,
as crystalline clarity awaits you
in the adventures of midnite.

Reach up and feel the power,
as argonite stalactites reach down
to meet striving stalagmites,
and whispers of Unity
echo in moan

you are not alone,
you are not alone.

Meet me in the moaning cave
where the light received is the light you gave,
from a friendship light so bright
it glows within the darkest caves
...and there is no need
for any other for light.

* thanks for indulging me in a rewrite,
for a friend*
Moaning Cave is in California. Impressive stalactites and stalagmites can be seen at California Cavern, (Cave City, Caliveras County CA.) For poetic reasons, I used Moaning Cave as the setting. It's a marble cave, and to go deep within the caves requires a 165 ft rappel and lots of belly crawling in tight spaces. My claustrophobia and unwillingness to crawl around in tight narrow passages prevented me from going deep into this cave, which features an ascent referred to as 'Godzilla's nostrils'  Follow the link to learn more. http://www.caverntours.com/MoCavRt.htm

At first glance I was sure you were talking about my bedroom.

But no...

and nod, I have been too. It was the first time I realized I had claustophobia. Or maybe it was just the sane realization that I have "breeding" hips! "ME? through THERE? uh uh..."

I enjoy the magick, always, and what I loved about the caves, was right side up could easily be upside down, if you weren't particular 'bout spelling.

Thanks for taking me back.

Poetic, thanks for reading.
Serene one? lol, I couldn't do it either, though I love caving, I just can't do the low crawl anymore.  ~breeding hips~

oh I loved it!  I adore things about nature and love intertwined.  So beautiful and full of imagery.  I'm a fool for imagery.

I will add though, that your explanation really helped me see the light as well. hehe

Thanks for that fantastic trip. I could never try to do that. Even if I were younger. But the thought of going through fascinated me.Thanks, matryjo

Sounds like an amazing place....and this was an amazing poem. Maybe I'll go there someday.

I'm with Karen!

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Aiutoooo! Help!
After reading your very powerful, exceptional poem I dared watch the slide show and oh ... only to see how terribly tight those spaces are, brought me to the edge of screaming of fear. This is one of my recurring nightmares!! I am claustrophobic and could never do this adventure tour. You have described the emotions so very vividly, my heartbeat accelerated only by reading ...

Love and fun... breeding hips!

lol, glad I'm not the only one who couldn't do the full adventure. I have a touch of arthritis now, but it was really the claustrophobia that got to me when I was younger.
Claustrophobia is no fun! I once had to be pulled off a simulated submarine ride.
I've been in some caves, but was always a bit nervous. And in the past, I had a panic attack in a snorkeling adventure within a coral reef formation and nearly drowned. My friends grabbed me by my long hair and pulled me out. In addition to nearly drowning, I had cuts all over me from the coral that had to be treated with antibiotics.
I think my spelunking days are over.

Kacy, I hope this is ok...email me and I will delete the picture...but here is another that I really think you will like.  Called the Indian Maid cave, I think it befits in ways your Moaning Cave...

When I've been in the different caves I've visited, I know pretty sure that if I were to get stuck, claustrophobia would be right behind me.  But, so far, I've been fortunate, and have been able to walk, crawl, and scramble my way through...

but a full fledged spelunker?  I am not sure I could do all that is asked of them....
