a not so far away world

awakenings were mean…wickedly rude
pushing me here & there
like a plot
full of twists & turns
gripping …clawing, never letting go

with a scowl painted across the face
of enchanting transformations
engrossing my whole being
down to my toes

performing rivalry
punching my stomach
like a medium from one of those
ancestral tales
of the 1600’s

there were no spell checkers
waiting to pounce
just hot & sweaty lyrics from some
distant storyteller’s spectrum

fighting with ideas
analyzing
something
interactive
with another time,
another place
creeping into my dreams
& on my days’ off
dangling a new motto
right in front of my nose

no matter how hard
I swatted it away
a daily installment
delivered to my front door
anthologies on-going
in endless arenas of space
human characteristics
putting goals where they shouldn’t be
Oh, how I stumbled over my own name

like an epic journey of the heart
complexities of resurrections…
delicious
dark
questions
emotionally wrenching
making sure the world that you’ve created
with speculative premise
to the perfect day
feels believable and exciting
special elements creating

balance is
drinking destiny’s majik
where the mind conjures worlds
yours mine and others mingle
immersed in heroic surroundings
where
time travelers say the words
aloud
accessing Egyptian knowledge

elemental overloads
of nature’s goals
with no gender
native American
mythology sparking lights

nasty paranormals charm
inspirational chills
lurking
extraordinary
in its eccentricities and will

i am right where liquid silver books
suggest i be…
on the path of my own damning questions
and I’m everything but willing
to take this journey
into the dark and powerful
slow change of flashbacks
life-changing acquaintances
lore of promise

paying no attention to tarot cards
or stand alone loss
coming into gifts
of courting darkness
lest I fathom death
the sensual bond between
determination and reason

it totally amazes me how you can think and write like this, with such depth and perception, so early in the morning

so many thoughts and wonderful lines

you make me smile when I can relate to so many passages you write...

only I won't tell you what I swat away

"performing rivalry

No matter how much time passes
some things are not touched by time.

Great write Lee J...

LeeJ...Really enjoyed. Read like a journey thru your mind, searching for more but unsure if you really want to travel the dark road that lies ahead or stay on the road you know. Thanks for sharing...Paul

So how far down the rabbit hole do you want to go today? :-) See you at the bottom. Last one there's a rotten egg. Loved it!

::smiles::   Wow! Such a fantastic write!

I remember when I used to think I was a "poet".
That was before coming here and reading the works of ones such as you.  Awesome!

This made me think of the old song... Just Dropped In To See What Condition My Condition Was In.  LOL
" I pushed my soul into a deep dark hole and then I followed it in.
I watched myself crawling out as I was crawling in."
::smiles::

I like the reply of Nedj...
Interesting thing about the rabbit hole...
You learn that there will never be a hard landing at the bottom...because you are there to break the fall and can only land in your own lap.   LOL    Oh !    Such Fun !

Lee, glad you got a laugh. Hope you didn't have too big an audience. :-)

Uriah, you must be a poet at heart, else how would you come up with a line about "landing in your own lap." Loved it.

LeeJ:

How I wish I could
reply as others do.

So I could receive
Nice words of thanks from you.

Although my mind enjoys the reads,
your brain from mind far more exceeds

Mine gets lost in sound and flow
I seem to miss what is implied.

Oh why am I so slow?”
Thanks,
and love from martyjo

Marcel, thank you so much for stopping by...for taking the time to read and reply, I'm always lovin your writes, your great gift of looking into the deep of things...

Dear dear Martie, you sell yourself way to short...you are brilliant, you possess common sense beyond what most do...and need I mention, what you do for so many other people...you are the most giving person, of your time, yourself...not to mention...a really good poet when you post...you've taught me so so much....

Love to you dear friend...have a safe and wonderful day....
