I Wrote Home about You

I really did!
They all said to say hello
And hope you are doing fine
(By-the-way, I didn’t tell them about your trouble with
smoking, and drinking all that wine)
So now they all know
just how sweet and smart
you really are
(Oh, and I didn’t discuss that thing about you
and that one armed guy and his Philadelphia guitar)…
So, your secrets are safe with me
especially ‘bout you and those darn cigars
and you needn’t worry ‘cause
I never said a word about
you being arrested
for stealing the Mayor’s car.

So, dear,
rest-assured,
all the folks back home
are happy to know you.
You are so special to them, and me too
So special that,
...shucks...
I wrote home about you.

That ornery streak of yours?
Is charming...in a hell-bent sort of way.

Enjoyed this, JL...

it's amazing how we shroud the ones we love in perfection, and it's not that we lie about them, but rather that we dismiss what's wrong with them... Then when it all falls through people ask "Well what was the problem?" And you have to confess all the confessions you avoided earlier to save face.

Lovely read. Reminds me of a part of my past.

Many a true word said in jest!  I go with LeeJ's interpretation.  Well said!

Passing Shadows, good!  I like to tickle when I can.  I hope that was a big smile I heard!

HoneyBunch:  Yep… Me too.

Klassy Lassy, no blackmail, just funning Lee J. a-little.  I like it when she says I’m gonna be in Big Big Trouble!  Maybe I need a ‘pankin’  Haahaaa…Heeheee!

Just kidding Lee J!!!
