Alizarin crimson over cobalt blue.

That's how I remember you.
Like splashes of neon
too bright for my eyes,
you were

way beyond the pale
of the new moon.

Whatever happened to you?
Why did you take the fast train
to the outer reaches of existence?

Wasn't the beauty of a summer's morning enough?
Maybe I'm just nectar for the hummingbird
that flits happily near my feeder.
Maybe I'm too easily enraptured
by the chatty upbeat nature
of the simplest songbirds, the sparrows.

You always reached for the stars beyond,
never the nearby Milky Ways
the rest of us stuffed greedily
into our wide open awaiting pockets.
Yours were already full, you said,
of magical sweet dreams that fell freely
from above the rainbowed skies.

I never understood your perspective
until I looked through a telescope
at distant planets and stars that were
beyond my fingertips touch.
You said you touched the stars each night
and cradled the moon in your arms.
Of course, I always thought
you had just consumed
too many magic shrooms.

Did you ever find that special star?
The one you said belonged just to you?
Is that you I see
twinkling and winking at me
after midnight?

*a rewrite from 2003,
from a far away lifetime
momentous memory

Awesome, Kacy!  Wow, what a description!  Now, Those illusive hummingbirds....they just move at much too fast a vibration.  *hugs*....jo

I just popped into pip and I knew I had to read this beauty. I love how you colour the world with your vibrant words!

P.S. Alizarin Crimson was a wise choice! It's a fugitive colour! Flirty 2

You certainly know how to write, Caring Kacy!

Sending you a loving, understanding hug,

Magical, Kacy!  You were too good for him.  If you couldn't open his eyes to the beauties on this planet right at his feet, nobody could!
