Bus reality show

*   *   *

Your shrill young voice
made everyone jump
and gaze at you in discomfort.
You shouted “Buona giornata a tutti!” (1)
with such a velvety  smile…

And then you began to sing
accompanied by your Mother
who played the accordion.
No please! Not a melancholic
Spanish song “Besame, besame
mucho, como si fuera esta noche
la ultima vez !”(2)

You even sang out of tune ...
but with so much passion,
as if the high pitched voice
was needed to keep away your fears.
Not a single smile you stirred,
no smiles no …

but tears, from these eyes of mine
because of the accordion,
because of the sad song,
because of the struggle of life
because of your courage
because of the indifference
because of the memories …
because …

I don’t know why actually,
but the sound of the accordion
always throws me into deep melancholy.
They say my Father played it,
but I have never heard him play
or did I maybe, through
my Mother’s womb?

Not a single smile you stirred,
no smiles no …
But tears from these eyes of mine.
Yet, I am grateful for this
performance of  life’s reality show,
due to the fact that my car
was on strike that day …

“Have a nice day!”

*   *   *
1) Have a nice day all!
2) Kiss me, kiss me passionately, as if  this  night it was the last time …

I liked the spanish...not one of either of your tongues but defintely nice to see some diversity in poems of american origin. I like the fact that u put your "car on strike" I forgot the day but we had a ride a bike or bus to work day, so I guess u rode the bus...lol I liked the overall concept though, how unexpected things change your life in the wierdest and not expected places...good job...elevation is the key

You know I had forgotten until reading this that my grandfather played the accordian, and what wonderful memories have surfaced - so thank you Margherita.  Is there anything worse than listening to someone sing off key?

Music and I don't gel...other than listening
to it...And I am sure this was a pleasure
to listen to.  You beautifully wrote of a
moment so tender and touching...One that
shall not be forgotten by you, others, even
myself.

Thanx.

Margherita, sounds stir us and the emotion you described....well, I just think you are very perceptive and sensitive.  Thank you for sharing your soul-speak here.  It is a bit different of a poem than normal for you, but it reflects the human side of your celestial personality!  *hugs*.....jo

"but the sound of the accordion

There is something about the sound of an accordion...

You've made beautiful music Margherita and such melancholy emotions.

Thank you all!
Sometimes we are in that special mood when things that happen around us  touch us deeply, because our receptivity captures more than just the "fact".

Love,

What a kind, compassionate person you are!  On behalf of the young girl with no voice, thank you for caring enough to feel so much emotion, even if (and paradoxically, especially because) some of it was because of possible womb-memories of your father.  And all this woven into a superbly written poem - although of a different style to the others you post, as iliana says.
