What waits beyond the gallows door
afore the crimson bleed
where many crawl the cobbled floor
in wait the breath of need.

There say the voice of hurried tongue
and shallow heart in beat.
Be strong my son, number one
our journeys now complete.

For from the eyes a tear does fall
into the crimson brine.
As laborers do cry and call
and wait the beggar’s line.

Where dogs shall howl and bark away
the moon and stars before
the wait is gone and now we stand
the cold cold gallows floor.

For in the morn, as light does bathe
the sill in wait your grasp,
the crow shall caw beyond the stones
that dirty hands shall clasp.

And as the earth does cover thee
as light does stand at noon,
a father falls to bended knee,
his loss a son too soon.

One of the saddest events to experience, dear Barry!

This hurts, you have written this with great intensity.
