if i started to blame others or made excuses for my mistakes

would you still meet me at the Golden Coral for a dinner of chicken and steak

                        or would you close the gate

to your heart forever

letting me know that  i'll never

                               be clever enough

to become the crucial stuff

                                   of your soul
