you are gone

like summer
like Diana in Paris
like a snowy owl in Windsor

the last time you lay beside me
you were a princess,
the white mask of your breasts
disappearing
in the snow
that drifted
across
the fields
of your skin

like those golden dreams
gathered
in the sweep
of the croupier’s arm

now,
memories of you
are
aching
wearied
climbers
clinging
to the glacier of my soul

Very beautiful write. I felt the pain and want in this. Yearning is one of my most disliked emotions. Its like an endless battle, trying to let go but forever wanting to hold on. Thank you for sharing it. - Danielle
