I Just Can't Bear The Thought

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I just can't bear the thought
of you spreading your wings to fly
out into such a big, cold world.
You're still a baby in my eye.

I just can't bear the thought
of sudden falls and crash landings,
the aches and pains of choices
and the heartbreak of misunderstandings.

I just can't bear the thought
of you being out there on your own
to learn the lessons by yourself,
I pray you'll never feel alone.

You're still my little girl,
you always will be, always know
I'll always be here, love to show-
still, I just can't bear the thought
of having to let go.

Oh dear Dixie, what a lovely picture of you two beauties! I understand this fully! My daughter took flight and lives in another country … exactly what I had done before her … this is life. And it is all but easy, especially for Mothers!

Your heart expresses this melancholy beautifully through your pen!

Love and hugs.

yes, Know the feeling well, but then a voice taking over says, but, you were allowed that freedom, and it is through the pains, the despairs and the dark rooms you became who you are...we do not own our children, in a special way, the world does, and it wouldn't be right not to allow them...life in it's fullest array of growth...experience...is the wealth of us, perhaps our own legacy...

Love to you, for such an endearing poem this morning...

hugs to you both

Beautiful Dixie. My heart goes out to you now as I understand. It is hard to see our young ones leave home, especially daughters. You Are Loved

Just saw LeeJ's post so came back to add:
LeeJ said it true. Have to agree totally with her.

Dixie...Loved the poem and love the closeness that you and her share. I hope it last a lifetime for both of you.
Keep her in that special place within your heart always.

Tell " Little Dixie " I said she is a very lucky young lady to have a mother like you that cares so much.

The best to both of you...Paul

thanks to all of you for your words of support and caring

this is indeed a very hard time for me...
I think I will have to start coloring my hair soon because of all the grays that popped up since I found out the news that she is going to live with her boyfriend in Kansas.

God help us all.

Dixie, I don't know you but I am going through the exact same thing.  I have to let her go and quit helping her so much.  I loved your poem and i am going to email it to my daughter.

Huggs to you both Kimberly
