There’s a little voice inside our heads that says that you’ll be sorry
But often at the time we think that there’s no need to worry
But there is something in us all that seems to know of fate
And as we tend to worry not, we find we’re in a sorry state

Within us all there is a sense with knowledge and insight
It seems to know percentage, how to work the wrong and right
And really nine times out of ten, fate tends to go its way
The voice of “you’ll be sorry mate”, does speak to me each day

Our parents said it to us, but sometimes they were wrong
It might be that we tried so hard and for it turned out strong
But often they were right as hell and truly sorry we
Experience of parents, we as children could not see

Growing up and learning seems to be the key of life
Helping us to know the way, avoiding what is strife
And when the voice of you’ll be sorry, registers to brain
We listen but go onward on and take the chance again

The words are just a warning, saying you could fall and burn
But most of us take chances, for that is how we learn
And if we tend to trip and skin our judgment when we fall
We had the words of warning which then next time we’ll recall

With age we all get wiser and judgments do attune
We all get old too quickly and run scared all too soon
And then tend not to take the road of change though it is clear
Sometimes risk is worth the chance of sorry through the year

Hindsight is always so much clearer! I should tape this to my refrigerator. LOL Rick, this is very insightful with great food for thought.
