Happy belated Birthday (June 8)
Mick Hucknall (Simply Red)
*

"Open Up your Mind
To Be Free"

Listening to Blue,
Simply Red.

And my calendar said

"Hello Mick,
Happy Birthday"

and I want to thank you
for tunes and ideas,
for your heartstrings,

for you have so often
helped clear the air
and as I listen to you singing
"The Air that I Breathe"
(Hammond/Hazelwood)

the words and music
~hearts holding souls~
envelops me
and leaves me
in a place
of Peace.

I love your inclusion of and close association with pop culture in your poetic works that I've read so far for it's such a huge part of everyday life.

Thanks, Phil. I might send hima copy of it, or at least send it via a comment to "The Mail on Sunday"
And Bob, thank you so much for those comments. Music is such a powerful equalizer, and more than likely, it permeates the soul of society in more ways than we can ever really know.

"Air that I Breathe" has to be one of my all time favourite songs..
Now it will be in my head all night..
But that's okay.
Excellent piece Kacy.

So it wasn't just me? Oh my goodness, this is perfect. See we do share some music in common! Yippee...

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Nancy, Larry, Martie thanks! I was listening to that CD today, hadn't realized his birthday was  this month until I went to his website to see his tour schedule.

This one is so gracefully beautiful.
And the song he is singing to you I can now hear in my mind. I love this poem!!!
