Gated Moon

When the wind caught up my glance
to a three-quarter moon in wait
its light lit something within
as we traversed through
that old farm gate...

Quiet steps within the night

(I recall them all so wonder spent)
light rain takes the moon to go
casting jewels in the morning
light like diamonds on a rose
I listen well to those

if only to catch up moments
that flag this heart,
beseeching time in every beat,
fall apart, fall apart, fall apart

Yet

I am small among the mighty
how to capture my own thunder
I wonder where is my steady true,
within I wander until
dawn takes me home again
to daylight

and to you...

to you.

To you.

Oh, I would speak profane
to call upon Him to speak
your name,
yet wait daily for your thunder
in my blunder but still
you calm the clouds…

yet I would hear them thunder…
for oh, the smell of a rose...

Gates that open squeak
along the path to seek meaning
asking questions of the sky
why my heart beats

I wonder why
---------
This is a duet with Sissie Sunshine

And a tremendous duet it is!!!  You both write so beautifully in solo, but as a duet, it is as exquisite!  Another to edge the shelves of my library!  Encore!

A duet that flows as one voice I must say. The wisdom of two excells. I love this. Great job by you both.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Do you two realize that this makes an incredibly beautiful song?  Yes it does, it does.   A little tweak to add the words below in as a chorus and presto!  I loved it.  (This my Willow would have loved.)

I am small among the mighty
how to capture my own thunder
I wonder where is my steady true,
within I wander until
dawn takes me home again
to daylight

and to you...to you.
To you.

Here is what I saw by the way ...

There is not much in the world
that is finer than a moment
of spilling a verse,

only to see it taken up by
a thoroughbred filly
who picks it up,
throws it on her back,
and rides away with it.

My willing part of this duet, poets,
was simply to place the winning
roses around her neck.

For she came all the way home.

No, Martie, never a better gift
than casting magic into
a duet with you.

Let's do it again, soon, please.
I'll bring the oats.

I love the moon, and anything in the sky. If you hadn't mentioned it, Martie, I would never have known that this was a duet. You two write so well together!

I hope someday you get the chance to live like you were dying....

Well, thought I.....I'll just wait a couple of days until this beauty starts to fall, then bump it up for another ride....HAH! Now I'm startin' to think it's never going to fall!

This is so good.....when two people blend so well, the reasons go far beyond mere talent in writing and a chance similariy of style. They have to be matched in thought and spirit, in ways that really count.

Martie & Sunshine...Duet or solo this is one thing for sure, beautiful poetry. It flows so smooth, the rhymes just in the right places and the subject of life and why we are here is most touching...Oh did I say I enjoyed this very very much? I did. Thanks for sharing ladies...Paul

Exquisite, both of you, thank you.  I kept reading it over and over to delight my senses - like a mood-painting that one can't take one's eyes off.
