Backlighting

The back of the storm circles the
edge
multi-strange-colors at nine
dusk comes in and out, quicksilvering
slim lightening threads off and out there
giant rumbles trembling slowly
this way, a backwash of what
could have been

yellowing golds backlighting
the underside of cottonwood’s leaves
grays on grey’s white yellow tinged pink
accumulations of formations

all is a strange other world

and I stand golden in its haze

azaleas and camellias come to
mind
another yard, a different state
a planting of promises that were
seen only once

we had dug deep in the postage stamp
yard to put fragrance of rose
and color of gladiola
into being

thin young trees planted
for someday’s
voluptuous shade

memories now as backlit
as the back of the storm
circling an edge
allows

" It matters not this distance now  " Excerpt, Yesterday's Love

Sissie

"thin young trees planted
for someday’s
voluptuous shade"

I marvel at trees....have been back to the house where I grew up....some of them are gone, but others stand sentinal to my youth and to the fact that life changes yet remains the same.  The light, the storm, the color of this poem...wonderful!

Ah how my dyslexia spoils things sometimes....this kept popping up in my head as "blacklighting"....just spoiled everything! It's a nifty poem as long as I can keep that from happening!

This has an ominous feel to it and yet such beautiful memories.  I'd say....hang on tight to the backdrop 'til the strom passes.  Hugs to you, SIL.......jo
