I closed the car door
When I loaded my suitcase
After leaving a note of goodbye.

Soon you'll be learning
That I'm never returning
So I want you to understand why.

That I signed all the papers
My attorney asked of me so you
Know how it's felt all along.

To be so rejected
Mistreated, Neglected
In your Mansion
Made out of stone.

As I pulled from the driveway
To that long open highway
I look back on the way things have been.

All your promises broken
Yes so many words spoken
That I hope never happens again.

Oh, I know you could give more
Then I ever could hope for
But I'd rather be living alone.

Then to be so rejected
Mistreated, Neglected
In your Mansion
Made out of stone.

Soon I'll pull down a small gravel drive way
Where our Dad built our home way back when.
Love was the rule and not the exception
It will never be that way again.

So I signed all the papers
My attorney asked of me so you
Know how it's felt all along.

To be so rejected
Mistreated, Neglected
In your Mansion
Made out of stone.

My Father lives in such a mansion, literally made of the same stone of which his selfish soul is comprised. I left him for the same reasons you left. Fortunately, there were no papers to sign, but only ties to sever and childhood memories to raise from repression in order to come to terms so hate would not destroy me as it had him.

So poignant are your words.   ~Sherry
