O, Lesser be the moon in full nightgown!
th’ lantern in the sea, on night--
thou art that moon, masked with shadows
on the self none can see,
Boundless, escaping at the touch of dawn--
and the river flows thee back again in pieces
O, Lesser be the moon each night.

Till thou art gone ne’er to return,
replaced with th’ birth of wholeness--
thou hast taken flight
and taken thy place among the stars,
how I do stare in the twilight hour--
each breathe, which one be thee?
And below others stare out of windows;
each thought be "which star is mine alone".

What were the shadows hiding?
Hail the sun, It has shown me the light--
no shadow could resist to be nothing
in morrow morn my thoughts hath been the same,
And thou art part of memories stored in the sky--
sailing with th’ lantern in the sea, on night
O, Lesser be the moon without thee in sight.

"O, Lesser be the moon in full nightgown!"

From the first line..this beautiful write grabbed me,
pulled me in and didn't let go till the end.
A superb write!

I like best the mood of this one...I've been back twice before, and that's impressed me each time. You express it in just the way I want to say things sometimes, and I don't carry if off nearly so well.

The poem held me spellbound until the very end. Very touching!

All I can say is Bravo! I loved the way you utilized a older style of word choice, but still got your point across. Let's just say keep writing because you are darn good at it.
