Once In A Lifetime

I still think you're beautiful,
even in this silence I can't bear-
even when you saw the tears
and didn't seem to care.

I still think you're awesome,
even in weak moments you deny-
even when you cut me open
just to bleed me dry.

I still think you're the best,
the greatest man I've ever known-
even when you ripped the stitch
from the wound I'd just sown.

I still think you're worthy
of every poem I ever penned-
because once, I loved you once,
and once, you were a friend.

And I could write a parallel poem.
Isn't love a pain?
And yet . . .

Every poem has worth in ways set free, even if liberty and liberation are the price a poet does pay.

To be perhaps misunderstood at times, yet allowed such understanding.

I wish I didn't understand this, but I do.  Still, I think some things are left better undone.  Well said, Dixie.

Excellent writing Dixie...sometimes that is
the way it is with those who were a friend.
Memories never die, do they?

Ouch...
Him Tarzan...You Jane?
Why would he monkey around?
Does he not read your poetry?
