"You are so beautiful, to me"

Joe sang it with great soul
but Billy Preston wrote it
straight from the heart.
And today, for you I shall sing,
Billy,
may you rest in peace and musical dreams
with all the other beautiful souls
who sang the heart true,
who helped us through
so many days and nights,
holding hands, lifting hearts.
Let it Be
that you are amongst friends
forevermore.

I added one missing line,
perhaps after your reading.
Thank you, Dave.

Thanks, Marge.
I was lucky..to have had Joe Cocker sing this song to me one night,
many years ago in a small beautiful nightspot in Montecito, California.
It could only have been topped by Billy singing it.

I'll never forget a wedding where the groom sang it to his bride.  Now she is dead from breast cancer....sigh.

One of my very favorite songs EVER is "With You I'm Born Again" sung by Billy Preston and Syreeta Wright... and every woman wants her man to think "You Are So Beautiful To Me"...

Thank you for this tribute, Kacy...

I talked with a friend of mine just a few minutes ago and told her about the music world's recent loss, and she had no clue qat all who I was talking about. I mentioned a few songs that he was a part of (including the Beatle's Get Back), and she still had no clue.
What is this world coming to when a man of absolute and true talent is not praised by the world and the talentless hacks are bazillionaires?

Great write.

What a moving tribute Kacy.
He left behind so many beautiful words.
Thank you for this.

Gawd, this thread is making me cry, not in sadness, but in happiness knowing how many others felt this beautiful spirit.
Ringo, I agree, it is just plain wrong that some souless hacks make millions for nothing.
Thank you each, for singing goodbye Billy with me.

That is one of my favorite songs as well but I always associated it with Joe Cocker... I had no idea that Billy Preston had written it.... Wow, and, then again, How Very Sad, I had no idea that Billy Preston had died today. Sigh. He certainly was a great Singer, Artist, and Writer. A very thoughtful tribute to a very Great man. Thank you for sharing.
