Freshly-Waxed Tile

Happiness may come in stages
tiny steps across fresh-waxed tile
try to go too fast, you'll slip
but get up, dust yourself off, and smile.

Life may be a house you build
you explore the atmosphere of each room
the extent of happiness it brings to you
and you find ways to brighten the gloom,

maybe change the furniture around
or put another light on the ceiling
or paint the walls another color
to match that very moment's feeling.

You enjoy the fruits of your labor
till you're ready for another mile
then you're off once again
across freshly-waxed tile.

"then you're off once again
across freshly-waxed tile."

Yes, Dixie, I certainly can appreciate this write.  There always seems to be something ready and waiting to pull our feet from under us but that's the "excitement" of life, I guess.
