"I" left the path.
Climbing upward.

In vertical vision
From above
Looking below...
The path was seen.

Horizontally winding
through the valley
of the Shadow of Death.

All along the trail
there appeared beggars.

The air was filled with an
endless whining sound.

Then "I" was caught
up in a whirlwind.

It tossed "me" about.

Ripping away at the outer
until it no longer mattered.

Then, it became an auger,
boring out the inner,

Like the emptiness
within a flute, through
which the wind creates music.

Tunes were played.

Then the wind faded.

Leaving only
the emptiness
that every concept
tries to fill
but never will.

Within the emptiness
that I AM...

There is Bliss.

Within the emptiness
that I AM...

ALL things exist.

Within ALL things...
that I AM...

There is emptiness.

Do you feel it?

There is no one else
to see the view I see.

There is no one else
to talk to.

In the emptiness...
there
is
Bliss

In the I AM...
there
is
emptiness
and
lonliness.

Do you feel it?

But my answer
is only the question...

Is it madness?

Then I return to
the emptiness...

In a fetal position.

Uriah,
About as good a rendering as I've ever read.

A bit different for you Uriah. I really like it.

I drifted onto that path, by accident not design, and was pushed up the length of it unwilling, even across the fringe of coral around the top. Now I live there, with plenty of crabs and coconuts, but never enough wood for a raft.

WOW, I like the whole poem but these lines really jumped out at me:

"Like the emptiness
within a flute, through
which the wind creates music"

Larry

To be able to explain this path and feeling is poetically amazing.

Larry - This is simply amazing because it's exactly, and I mean "exactly" what a lot of thinking people experience but have been unable to describe.  Jo's right - hang in there because you will eventually ... unfold.
