Sweet Sap of Life
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

I suck the sap of life so sweet,
And trod the bitter ‘neath prancing feet.
I breathe in flowers’ fragrant breath,
And laugh with fairies ‘til my death.

With glad emotions I do dance,
And greet each morn with exuberance.
On my frailties, I do not dwell,
For life is good and all is well.

I skip my way thru’ daisy fields,
And reap ripe fruits of summer yields.
With every blessing that I perceive,
My faith’s restored in full believe.

I do not fear what life befalls.
Whene’er I hear bird madrigals.
And as butterflies go winging by,
My spirit rises to touch blue sky.

I suck the sap of life so sweet,
And trod the bitter ‘neath prancing feet.
I breathe in flowers’ fragrant breath,
And laugh with fairies ‘til my death.

Dixie ~

I have always found that the more positive my outlook is, the more positivity I draw into my life ~ and conversely, the more negative my thoughts are, the more negativity I have come in to my life. Soooo, methinks I best be of a positive frame of mind ~ even when all is not rosy! lol Before I know it, there are LOTS of reasons to be positive! Light attracts Light!

Now I'll get off my soapbox cloud. Angel 2

So pretty!  Took a drive out my lane tonight in hopes that all of a sudden the pastels would magically fall on paper in just the right places.  Planted myself next to a fencerow of honeysuckle.  Your poem reminds me of the golden meadow and the sweet fragrance from the wildflowers.  A heaven on Earth!  Thanks for your upbeat poetry.  It is joyful.

Your poem blends beautifully with the picture. Both are a little bit of paradise which in this life we must occasionally be reminded of. You have done that and in excellent rhyme.

Actually on this site, I've noticed more good rhymers than anywhere else. It's cadence somehow always sounds like music.

What a wonderful experience to wander down picture poetry lane with you!  However, although I don't want to put a damper on these happy replies, I am a little worried - going on something you said in one of your replies - that something is wrong and you are being positive to get rid of the negative/s. However, with your spirit I am sure that you can negate the negations away, but if it doesn't work, may I suggest that you read Earth Angel's poem called Sweet Sap of Life and look at the picture she posted with it, then all of the negatives will fade away!  Loved your poem and the picture.

Owl, you certainly are a Wise One. Yes, all is not well in my world. My parents are in dire straights and I am broken-hearted. Both my parents are in hospital and both are having renal dialysis. Last week my Mom had abdominal surgery and then she had a severe heart attack, stroke, and is now on life support. My Dad is in the room next to her's and he has a broken hip, shoulder, and arm. These are not very happy times but I am trying to stay positive.

Thank you for your thoughtful comments ~ and your caring.

Linda, your parents and you will be in my prayers.  I am so very glad that they are in rooms next to each other.  That must be of great comfort to them and to you.

Hugs along with the prayers, and please keep reading this Sweet Sap of Life poem of yours and looking at the picture you posted with it.  I know it will help to support that wonderful spirit of yours.

Thank you, Diana. My Mom died last evening in my sister's arms and with my Dad holding her hand.Just last week my Mom was a vibrant, articulate, sweet, fun-loving woman full of love and life. Just a few years ago she was hang-gliding and parasailing. She embraced each day and had such a generous spirit ~ full of love and life.
My Mom is gone ~ but her glorious spirit lives on. In some ways, she will be even closer to me now...

What an interesting oxymoron of a pseudonym! Sort of a yin/yangy name ~ and state of being.

Yes, I can understand those "rotten kind" of days. May tomorrow be a brighter, more joyful one.

I'm pleased that my poem was able to lift your spirits. It is not always easy for me to walk my talk, but I surely do try. At times it is good for me to read my own words to help keep me in balance.
