I tried
to write down the song
you played for me
before I realised
I didn't know the words.

And afterwards, when I asked you
you just smiled.
As though expecting me to remember
myself.

I sat
with a glass in one hand
and a pencil in the other
strings of music
floating above my head
Violins, I think.

I wondered
at how easily
I could recollect the tune
and I hummed it
Closed my eyes and dropped my pencil

Because I knew then.
There never were any words.

Kacy - thank you, I must admit I was in a fairly *heart*ing state of mind. If that makes sense...
