Quiet...
With a stillness wrapping me in a black cloak
of woolen weave.

One might feel the centuries of fervent
slaughter touch the soles of their timid
feet, hearing the screams of crimson pain
bounce the granite shards of a stoic
stone beast hovering over the unwed
seashore as a merciless cold swiftly
rides the ghostly froth covered sea..

Might the shiver come before the soul
begs to leave?  For death does stalk
the hallowed shores and the eyes of
night await the passage of earth’s
day in one single callous swallow.

Fear not, the whisper teases as each
lap of a gray briny host touches the
shoe, washing from sight the circle
of indecisive scurry...as widened
eyes dance the shadows and withered
hands clutch the damp soil of souls.

And...again silence falls in a darkened cloak,
as calm returns and gulls hover in wait....
Pristine, the shores that swallow the
trace of timid feet....awaiting the whisper’s
tease....as echoes cry the stoic mount and a
loon calls desperately in wait.

"Might the shiver come before the soul
begs to leave?"

I think I got the shiver while reading but the soul isn't begging its leave.  Good write, Magnus, but ... still shivering here - could just be because it's winter!
