The stillness of midnight quiets my mind
in slumberous surround sound.
Dreams capture my thoughts,
or is it the other way around?
Sleep comes in bits and pieces,
a few short minutes at a time.
Morning sun gently wakens me,
sometimes finding my meandering mind
caught within a golden rhyme.
The words have never been mine.
I’ve simply borrowed them
from some generous muse
passing by in a night flight,
who saw fit to lay them at my feet,
as if she were some poetic golden goose.
I’ve never struggled to find a word,
and sometimes, the music follows,
like horses galloping in a closeknit herd,
or colors banding together into a rainbow
after a caressing heavenly shower.
The stillness of midnight
quiets this mind and soul,
showers me with celestial music
that falls freely from the clouds
long after twilight embraces the daysky in goodbye,
passionate as a lover’s farewell kiss and sigh.
That's when the dreams capture my thoughts.
Or is it the other way around?

That's when the dreams capture my thoughts.
Or is it the other way around?

somewhere they meet
midstream
with you
as the medium

Either way ....

such dreams or thoughts hold you in the highest of regard

amongst stars, clouds, and all the other angels

I found myself caught in your words!

Kacy, I know just how you feel...
sometimes the words
are just there
but I always know
they have been used before...
and I marvel that perhaps
you,
and I...
can fit them
just once
into a different puzzle.

Write on!

"or is it the other way around?"

Good poem, better question.
