I met you in the Marina
on a whimsical summer day.
You stared at my eyes, tossed me a wink,
proceeded to tie my shoelaces together
then declared without so much as a blink
"I've got you now."

We played into the sunset,
two serendipitous souls
floating
on a summer night's amber sea
aboard the sloop Jolly JC.
My heart drifted far away
into the land of dreams
~infinity~
held itself within your eyes
under Vincent blue skies.

Before the month ended,
clouds from the Gods above
showered me in sweet harmony
with your undying Love song.
We played chess together,
checkmating each other
while laughing at life's absurdities.
And even when you later
broke my heart,
I whispered
"Thank you."

Any one who enters your life space and brings a little joy should always be remembered with fond feelings. Best to you, martyjo

I like this! I love that you allow your subject to raise above something as ordinary as a break up, by showing us her understanding of it. The broken heart; while painful as it may be, cannot surpass the joy that she had in the relationship. You get the feeling that she'd do it again even with foreknowledge.
PS. love the title also, it has a great rythm

It's a little after noon
where I sit
and I didn't think
I would be finding tears
so quickly
this day.

A heartbreaker...

with understanding.

Well done, Kacy

Midnitesun,

Tied the laces together and said, "I've got you now!"  Oh, sometimes they tie those laces in knots!  Nice knots, but knots no less.  Take care.  I enjoyed your poem very much.
