Belfry

I woke up on my back…
She had carved an “X”
into my forehead,
but when I tilted my head
it was a cross.
Maybe it was my obsession
with competitive button pushing
that drove her rhinestone,
(Hard, cold and sparkly).

So when the treasure hunters
came ‘round,
fear and loathing set in.
For upon my forehead marked the spot.
Them with their iron shovels tried
to break ground on my skull.
I told them, “Look dogs, this cavity
is empty, can you dig it?”
Idiot! Wrong inquiry…

Back on my back,
they were moonshining to my parakeet.
The poor little yellow
keeled over singing bubbles on the stove.
They then tapped a boot mark
with their steel-toed boots
onto my head.
See how soft or hollow it was.

Then raised high above my eyes,
A Spade!
The worst of all shovels.
Pointed, jagged, iron,
like her really, pretty.

Downward thrust,
and finis.
No gold,
just a horde of red pewter.

As I twitched my final twitch,
I saw the looks of the diggers.
They were disappointed with frowns
“umbrellaed” onto their faces.
But with my last pint of strength
(and blood)
I tilted my head,
to see that they just had crooked smiles.
I fooled myself to think
that they had found what they wanted.
I had gold in my head…

I'm not smart, I'm just a tricky dumb person.

Edward~
I fear 'they' would merely find 'bats' in mine!

Well -- because of the ongoing risk of having someone in the Powah Structcha think I'm a badster and seek an excuse to punish me for the crime of expressing my thoughts in a creative way, I'll just say, dang this is good!
