YOU ASKED ME ONCE ....
31 July 2001

You asked me once ...
long ago
across the ocean
to tell you
something about me
you didn't know ...
and I couldn't come
up with anything.
I have been racking my brain
ever since
and at last
I have thought of something
that you, who have danced with my soul,
don't know about me ...
I have pink and white
rabbit slippers
called Ambi and Dextrous

Aw, this says a lot about you.  1) you seriously want to continue the relationship, searching that hard to find an answer. 2) You have a sense of humor.  Who else names their slippers?....yet, with such darling meaningful names?  Most enjoyable!

Thanks sandgrain (Rae)- wanted, not want (wrote it in 2001!).  I since was given another pair of slippers (teddy slippers) for Mother's Day whom I named Teddy and Bear.  I also have a Volkswagen Jetta named Gretta (after 2 egrets near her the first time I saw her - only noticed days later that Gretta rhymed with Jetta), a filing cabinet named Fiona, a laptop named Lilian, a digital camera named Camilla, a printer named Peter (and a colleague, for a joke, called my palisade fencing, Paul).  Glad you enjoyed the poem.

I almost fell out of my chair...excellent..
I know a friend who has bunny slippers...
Is this a girl thing, or what?

(he would not be caught dead in them)...
BUT he won't admit it...

Diana....I had oversized bigfoot slippers at one time with no names....maybe that's why their lost now.  This was too cute, but also said something serious about a relationship.  :hugs

Thank you Lee.  I am glad I gave your heart a smile.  It gives me a good feeling.

Thank you Magnus.  I am glad you didn't QUITE fall out of your chair - don't want any broken bones.  I don't know if it is a girl thing to have bunny slippers.  It certainly is an Owl thing, though, that I can vouch for.  Giggles that your friend is a He and is embarrassed by his slippers.  Now, I, on the other hand, am impressed by him.  Anyone who loves bunnies (the ones with the long ears and four feet) is a good friend of mine.  I was sorta hoping it was you.

Giggles, Martie, at your nameless slippers that are lost.  Yes, I would imagine that they are lost because they thought you didn't love them because you didn't give them an identity!  However, I know you wouldn't hurt their feelings unknowingly!  Smiles and more giggles.  I know you will realise that I am joking.  Hope everyone else who reads this does!  Yes, it did say something about the more than ten thousand email relationship.  He, my long-haired, Californian poet, knew more about me (or so I believe) than anyone else I ever knew right here in Durban, South Africa did.  It was a fun thing he asked, but it was really a struggle to find something to tell him about me that he didn't already know.

Giggles, giggles and more giggles, Lighthousebob at the idea of the generations of little bunnies since 2001!  Sadly they didn't have babies.

Diana, "he" is me....  but, if it would
please you by wearing some bunnies...well,
I guess there is a first for everything...

I did have to dress as a girl (woman) once..
an initiation thing...does that count?

Thank you Dixie.  The feeling is mutual.  I am glad you enjoyed the poem.

Grins, lighthousebob.

I'm delighted it's you, Magnus.  Nope, dressing as a girl (woman) for an initiation doesn't count - but the bunny slippers counts twice - once for each foot!

Here,  don't say I never gave you anything..

Bunnies and Bears...Swords and Shields...

The slippers fit like two gloves
and kept his toes warm and dry.
He did it after two big shoves
and what a gleam in her eye.

Bunnies two, now his best friends
pastel colors that never blends.
Fluffy tails so white and soft
shoulda thrown them in his loft.

He swore he would, she saw he did
looking like some big gangly kid.
Slippers on backwards, what a treat
swallowing up those two big feet.

So now his name has been altered
cause he stopped as his heart faltered.
Maggie is now the ladies choice....
As he sings tenor with his new voice.

Maggie,
Is it true that Hop-along Cassidy was a guy from Texas?  Did he have slippers too?

Giggles, ThisDiamond.  I hope Magnus sees your reply.  I bet Hop-along Cassidy DID have bunny slippers.  After all, he was a good guy and loved his horse, Trigger, so I am sure he loved bunnies too!

Well, your alliteration has caught up with you, Owl!
Hoppy's white horse was named Topper.
Trigger was Roy Roger's faithful steed.

While I never had bunny slippers, you should have seen my cowboy outfit!  To die for!

Love all those names!

Oops!  Sorry Topper and Trigger!  How could I have got you muddled up?  S Arther Grey, I am so sorry you don't have bunny slippers, but I'm sure you could find some somewhere - they would match your cowboy outfit tremendously!  Smiles (particularly at the the picture!)

LOL Love this!  What a twist at the end!

I was reading this with all intensity, relating to the beginning and middle, thinking that the ending would be sorrowful and then? you showcased your great sense of humour - threw me for a loop, but loved it anyway.

Honeybee, thanks for enjoying my poem.  However, whilst there was a muted sense of humour at the end, my point was that there didn't seem to be anything he didn't know about me, other than Ambi and Dextrous, my pink and white bunny slippers.

Hey Magnus!  Or sorry - Maggie (although I much prefer you as Magnus - you don't seem like a Maggie to me at all!) - I have only just seen your poem, "Bunnies and Bears ... Swords and Shields ..."  Loved it - chortled all the way through!  But I won't talk to you ever again if you throw your bunny slipper friends in the loft!
