I wrote this poem a couple of years ago for a
college communications course and thought that
I might share it here as a little break from
my more serious type poetry writing...
I hope you enjoy this.-Bob

How High Is Up

How high is up? The sky is up!
We really don’t know why it’s up.

The world is round. We’re on the ground.
Wherever we look, Up is found!

The world is round. Eventually,
if we dig down, the sky we’ll see...
...then looking up again we’ll be.

Perhaps, the answer is in space
where up and down each has no place.

If we look up or we look down,
there is no sky, there is no ground,
there’s only space there all around.

So... from our space, we plot our plan
“How high is up” to understand.

The sun is up. The moon is up.
A helium balloon is up.
A bird is up. A word is up.
The strangest thing we heard is up.

We think, We know, We disagree,
We all give up, and then we see...

“How high is up is ‘Up’ to me!”

Smiles,
Lighthouse Bob

Fun! Do you have kids? This would be a good childrens' poem, but I, an adult, liked it too.

LHBob,

Forever clever!  A hoot to read, but with a lot of thought and truth behind the matter!  A real treat;

I hadn't been "up" long enough to figure this one out Lighthouse Bob. Maybe I'll try again after I've had a few more cups of coffee. Enjoyed! :-)

Yes, Dr. Seuss. ..LOL..

Delight to read.

Once we grasp the fact that "UP" is a relative term, it becomes relatively easy to comprehend.
