Between the Lines

I loved that  way once,
still a residue of that left in me
though the years toll
and the limberness
has more desire in it
than ability.

I sometimes rock myself to sleep
in sitting up dreams
needing to remember,
keeping the heart awake,
rose colored glasses removed
allowing the eyes to see
and the mind to absorb
truth.

You can touch me there
and even there,
leaving soft imprints,
though some bruise the heart
with want, wrapping me up in memory,
to shelter from the aloneness
of tomorrow.

I lack the courage to admit
"the worded truth"
and escape by this,
failing in my attempts
at farewells, failing at the lingering,
bonded emotionally, the attraction
an "always".

some used to tell me, you cannot tell the heart what to and what not to love...

wonderfully written, especially liked your stand up dreams...

and this
I lack the courage to admit
"the worded truth"
and escape by this,
failing in my attempts
at farewells, failing at the lingering,
bonded emotionally, the attraction
an "always".

reminding me how telling the truth, to ourselves regardless of how hard it is to do so, eventually releaves us of the heavy loads we carry with us...

well, I could highlight each and every line, as this poem was not only filled with many amazing visuals, but, also, true grit...enjoyed!!!!
