Be fond
O too fond I hath been
–when the heart tends to weep--
The dew hast fallen from heaven and took its place;
amongst the others in the sea and still is fond--
fond of the stars from which it fell holding the memories.

Thoughts, Idle thoughts,
I know not what is real or fantasy
Thoughts from the depth of the broken mind--
you rise in the soul and gather me together
In what winter hath I been but cold--
and thinking of when you were my warmth
In spring everything began to fade till nothing did remain.

Ah, fond of the past in the earliest years,
to dying memories I hath remembered you!
When unto the dying of thy face I do not remember you
so the tears remember for me, tears awake the heartache,
So strange that after three long years thy still with me--
O death of the first love was as like that of what is not said
ne’er hath I regretted a single moment nor hated you,
So sweet be those who know;
I am still too fond, too fond of you
