born to look white
black heart
refused love
forces traveled
determined to enter
white world.

imitate identity
white surface
black soul
lonely man
takes children
to wake from sleep
refused love
forces traveled,
determined to enter
bleached world

where color hurts
black moms
nurture white young
that run away
determined to enter
white celebrity world
forces turn around
it must feel odd
to disregard
ones own kind..
for a spotlight moment.

I've not seen the movie, but I swear I've heard my daughter talk about it.  The title sounds familiar.  I would imagine that many would not admit that this piece rings true in many cases.  That is unfortunate isn't it?  Thanks for sharing.  Take care, Liz...Carpe Diem
