3 o’clock
Monday
A memorial is being held
Soldiers left
Fighting
Without cause
Cry each night, sandy tears
Friends who laughed
Have Fallen
Lost among broken bodies
Cradled in wounded arms
Anonymously shipped to family homes
By airmail
They say this is justice
The American dream
Boys too young to drink
Drunkenly fall into enemies’ truth
Understanding reality with each last breath

A memorial is being held
Quietly
Those who have been home
Scared to dream of nightmares
Fit nicely into wheelchairs
Excepting prosthetic extensions
Of whom they used to be
Fighting
For Democracy
When no one really wants it

Standing tall
Right hand to heart
Saluting
The fate of death
While boys become martyrs
From lies

It’s Monday
A memorial is being held

Thanks. I am glad I am not the only one who feels this way.
