Autumn colored eyes flash in the fog choked bird-hop.
Whisper-feet drum the  timber trussed trail
and the long, lean, powerful body ripples as a sail
that turns into the morning.

Curve of claw and truth of tooth hold sway;
a steaming spray of bovine blood forks free,
but, it's the stain of mother's eyes on me
that turns into the mourning.

A painful read. I mourn all blood spilled, and chose years ago to eat a vegetarian diet.
But I did enjoy that curve of claw line.

love! It's beautiful,and appropriately respectful. I could almost feel the downward whoosh.
I was born vegetarian, so never chose it for the animal issue. I probably would have started eating meat as I grew older and out of the house, except I saw a documentary that mimicked your poem and I couldn't get the eyes of the calves out of my mind.
Well done in a small amount of verse, thank you

I just realized that it sounded like I meant a documentary about humans slaughtering animals, and it was actually the "life chain" of animals and predators..ackkk Sorry.
