(Here's a new song I've written, dedicated to all our men and women who have served and made courageous, admirable sacrifices this Memorial Day.

I ask here that on this day, may we not forget both meanings which this day, as well as Armistice Day, has long ensured us; that not only do we remember our warriors which are truly our children in uniform, but we also remember this day is also about reflecting and observing on the blessings of peace as he world did following World War I in 1918, understanding that war is insanity and we must make it a mutual effort to re-celebrate that global truce, and NOT sending our children off to more and more places worldwide for dubious causes and short-term profitting for politicians and business interests alike.

Thus, this song is both 100% pro-troop and pro-America, as well as 100% anti-war and anti-governments who disrespect those serving for fulfilling dubious causes.

Regardless of your opinions on the current war in Iraq, or any war in particular, all those who are serving are serving in the best interests of our great nation, thus may they get all the honor, respect and appreciation they deserve this Memorial Day.....and may we never forget! )

Face The Music When The Sun Rises
By: Noah Eaton
5/29/06

At the eleventh second,
in the eleventh minute,
within each quiet eleventh hour,
lament fields of poppies,
red as youth’s lionhearted blood,
where white poppies bloom,
from the tears in the trenches,
echoing a call for enduring truce,
that just seems to get glossed over…

…and there’s a decorated veteran,
waking to the call of “Reveille”,
right as the sun kisses his unimpeachable face,
he’s got two grandsons,
that have eyes resembling his,
and at the air show picnic they ask him,
“Why does ‘The Last Post‘,
always sound so much louder,
it’s as though resurrection always runs astray…”

One day, I pray,
the last war fought will seem like a distant memory,
one day, I pray,
the veterans who pass away will not be replaced,
one day, I pray,
we can all wake together in the morning,
and face the music when the sun rises…
.
.
.
There’s a teenage girl,
making it through high school,
reading up on world history,
she wonders, “If wars were fought there,
so they won’t have to be fought here,
and World War I was supposed to be,
the war to end them all,
what brought us to this indefinite state?”…

…she asks the father,
of one of her best friends,
who was stationed back in Vietnam,
he said, “Of course we must remember the veterans,
that’s what Memorial and Armistice Day is for,
but it seems the observance of blessings of peace,
which was also a true meaning to that day,
has become overshadowed by patriotic, political lionizing,
and the lessons of 1918 have since been buried away…

One day, I pray,
the last war fought will seem like a distant memory,
one day, I pray,
the veterans who pass away will not be replaced,
one day, I pray,
we can all wake together in the morning,
and face the music when the sun rises…
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Well, I have a great deal of respect,
for all that have served our nation,
regardless of my condemning,
of politicians and their cheering of destruction,
and the wars they keep getting thrown into,
lest we forget,
the pleas among the poppies,
AND ALL THE PAIN AND SACRIFICE THEY WENT THROUGH…

…a shiny yellow ribbon,
still sticks there on my refrigerator,
to the right of a picture of a friend,
serving in the National Guard,
I only hope someday all of us can pay tribute,
to the tragic sacrifices of those of the past,
by looking at the gift of civility they secured to us,
that is the sunrise of peace…

One day, I pray,
the last war fought will seem like a distant memory,
one day, I pray,
the veterans who pass away will not be replaced,
one day, I pray,
we can all wake together in the morning,
and face the music when the sun rises…

One day, I pray,
the last war fought will seem like a distant memory,
one day, I pray,
the veterans who pass away will not be replaced,
one day, I pray,
we can all wake together in the morning,
and face the music when the sun rises…

To live in a world without war.....
sometime to strive for, so that the sunshine will be enjoyed peacefully.

These lines made me tear up Noah.
Thankyou for this thought provoking post.

Noah, this certainly doesn't leave the reader with dry eyes, and a deeply engraved hope that your words are heard by all men across the world...

Terrific right/write...hugs to you and thank you for writing and sharing....
