A Desire To Forgive

There came a time
when I could see there
were too many times
I failed to forgive and
all along I was in the wrong.
For failure to forgive only
leads to suffering and pain.
Not their suffering and pain.
My suffering and pain.
Am I so foolish to hold
onto anger and resentment,
that I would allow bitterness
to take root within my heart.
Apparantly so...
Whether she was at fault or me
this should not be,
and so today I am determined
to stay on the road to forgiveness.
It is within my power
to have a desire to forgive.

In situations that seem completely beyond us,
where we are completely stuck or in utter pain
and despair, asking our Higher Power to bring
about forgiveness will help move us through our
unwillingness and fear, thereby allowing our
Higher Powere to do all the work for us...

James

We are who we are

It works or it "don't"

Changing your nature would change what attracted her in the first place and therefore becomes 'null and void'

Derived from Catch 22

How many men intially look at a woman or vice versa, without considering 'their prospects, "animal, vegetable or mineral".

A profound truth concerning forgiveness! If we hold onto our hurt, we relive it again and again, inflicting our wound over and over.  In forgiving, we free ourselves from reoccurring pain to move forward.  If we've been forgiven, should we do any less?

I really enjoyed this.

I've heard it said that forgiving is not forgetting, but it is letting go of the pain...
Yes, James sometimes in not forgiving we shackle ourselves to the pain.

Profound write James.
