Words of Dixie

25 May 2006

Night comes again
and daylight then
Another story, left untold

Two hearts, too happening
one together, both united
This happiness of both
across a planet unfold

Oceans and seas, Pacific in quest
this Gulf of Mexico, wind blowing south
White sands of passion, if only told
a truth impossible, yet real enough

Night passing, new day borne
this generation, coupled in heart
Where was yesteryear, that venture gone
another moment to surrender in being told

The Gulf of Mexico is a major body of water bordered and nearly landlocked by North America.

The gulf's eastern, north, and north-western shores lie within the United States of America
(the states of Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas); the south-western and
southern shores of the Gulf lie within Mexico (the states of Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Tabasco,
Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo); on the southeast it is bordered by Cuba. In
connecting with the Atlantic Ocean via the Florida Straits between the United States and
Cuba, and with the Caribbean Sea via the Yucatan Channel between Mexico and Cuba.

The total area of the Gulf of Mexico is approximately 1.6 million square kilometres (615,000
square miles), the southern third of which lies within the tropics, and plunges to a depth of
2,080 fathoms (3804 metres). This deepest part is Sigsbee Deep, an irregular trough more
than 300 nautical miles (550 kilometres) long, sometimes called the “Grand Canyon under
the sea.” The Gulf Stream, is a warm Atlantic Ocean current and one of the strongest ocean
currents known, originates in the gulf.

just to live long enough to know, is to live long enough to openly give

a poet who cares
