Reflections

I listen to the tired in your voice
trying not to match, though it's there
"the tired", that is...
but not wanting to add
to the length of worries.

Keeping it in, singing to myself
of better times in this quilted life
that savors even the bad, for one to
enjoy the good.

It brings the little things to mind, those
that when I close my eyes
can bring me a smile, warming my heart
even if only for a moment.

I can love in many ways, many degrees
for more than one, and even those
of the lesser degrees
will always be in my favor
for the gifts of pleasure and growth
they have given me.

I can now be alone with these thoughts
that surround me in picture and poetry and prose.
And can step back from that edge
that was so tempting, once.

I can see beauty in most things,
my sight renewed by the warmth
that youth has to offer and even if
that road not taken stays in the distance,
I will breathe in every day
as if it may be my last.

M

Yes, deep breath...
followed by a smile of sigh.

I am still looking in the mirror, in knowing this has influenced me without knowing it

Me thinks, M, that you have always seen beauty, and are beauty. Hugs.
