Boreal Jeremiad

The mellow tone,
the mellow tone...

Desperation bleeds like a cow
flowing swiftly like your thoughts,
memories from nowhere.
Like a dying song
at the funeral of music
rising up from a cold
winter bog
and smoky corridors.
Yeah, cold.

Mind's internal bleeding,
losing all from your pregnant head.
I lay dying like a useless troubadour
when his strings are breaking
and his brain remembers spring
because yesternight he planned entombment.

I will ask you once more for my insanity back; and after that I shall be forced to play tennis. Now give it to me before I do something rash!

Where have I been??? You've been posting here for five months, and I hadn't discovered you. Worse, where have my friends been, not to give me a nudge?

Friends, where have you been????

The Jeremiad form is close to my heart, simply because it takes such courage to confess such frustration.

And where have we been?

Why, Ed, that reminds me of a story...Back when I lived at anudder house, I was out on the porch, where it was most often I could be found.

I was indulging in some import tobaccy--whereupon I spied a HUGE flying machine on the lower horizon.

I inhaled. I held it.

I said:

"Damn baby, that's a big expletive jet."

No sooner had I said that, I saw a group of boys riding their bicycles, screaming with glee:

"Look--it's the spaceshuttle!"

Um... It was.

Don't count on your friends for the obvious, darlin.

Enjoyed the poem and the memories that it provoked, Ed Grimm.

Thanks everybody. I'm glad I have some people who actually like what I write. More often than not, people think I was drunk when I write certain poems. I tell them I'm not even old enough to vote let alone drink. It's just nice to have a select few who enjoy. Danke     - Ed

I'm not smart, I'm just a tricky dumb person.
