Angel
A inspired tragic narrative poem that came to me in a dream.
0.o

What is an angel essentially
Is actually a human being
Is it bright as it glows in the sky
With large white wings billowing by
If it were a person who would it be
Everyone whom death would meet
The sinless standing on a pillar of light
While the damned writhe in pits black as night
And what of those here on earth
Who have the job to watch over us from birth
And the people as beautiful as such
That are pure and glow with radiant joy
Sleeping with dreams filled with baby girls and boys

These thoughts come up every time
I glance into the most beautiful persons eyes
And when she looks back at me
I truly believe I actually see
Her white billowing wings spread out
as if they are calling me

This girl I speak of the one in my ninth grade class
She is the only girl who holds my heart in a glass
I’ve fallen in love with one of god’s angels
Who new love could be this painful

When she walked up to me today and whispered in my ear
“You are the one my heart holds dear”
When she said this, to God I was thankful
I actually fell to my knees and cried
Tears fell from my eyes and I didn’t know why
In the middle of the hallway with my angel

But what really made my heart melt
Was when she knelt down and wrapped me in her arms
In a loving embrace that seemed to last forever
And kissed me while I cried
The hallway faded away leaving us in an isolated place
My heart full to the brim with a deep affection
This moment, more perfect than perfection
More indescribable, More undeniable than anything in the world
No more being, no more mind, no more body
Only me and her existing in harmony
Living entities wrapped in the bonds of love

When the teachers came and took us away
She looked at me and I looked at her
And we both spoke the heartfelt words I love you

In truth, I didn’t know she felt this way
These emotions usually kept secret bloomed this day
And in every way possible, we fell in love

Many years past and we both aged
We’ve gotten even closer over the years with our love unphased
So much that we would give our lives for each other if the time came
But one rainy night my love was driving outside
Coming home with a gift for her lover
Lightning flickered across the sky
As I waited inside for my beloved wife

A few minutes later that’s when it happened
My beating heart cracked and I bent over gasping
The fear started coursing through my body
As I put on some shoes and went outside
The rain pouring down reflecting the light of the night sky
I ran down the road ignoring the traffic speeding by
1 mile, 5 miles, 10 miles
My clothes torn and battered drenched in rain that was still pouring
The light up ahead started increasing my dread

I followed the lights and the people’s cries
Tripping, stumbling, hoping that what I see is just a dream
I see a car flipped on its side and a truck torn to shreds by the crash
I look around searching the ground for the one I hoped would not be found
I looked up the road and saw that a figure laid there.

The figure of the woman I loved

At that instant my dreading heart shattered
As I ran using all of my power to the body of my wife
I held her body in my arms
And instantly knew that she was gone
Here skin was pale and sucked up life
I ached so much I thought of ending my own life
I embraced her as I cried and kissed her lips
Remembering the passion of our first kiss
I looked straight up into the sky
The rain was pouring down our sides
As if the sky cried with me

I looked at her clenched fist and saw that something was in it
I heartbreakingly took it from her hand
And what I saw made me cry harder then
It was a heart locket with a picture of her smiling inside it

The ambulance came and took my love away
The rain now small rays of light as the sun crept up from the dreary night
And as I walked back home turning down offers for a ride
I saw a small feather fall from the sky
I caught the feather in my hand
And I felt my-self start to cry again
But these tears weren’t of sorrow
They were the same tears of shock and joy from my ninth grade year

When I thought about it, it seemed like a fable
The one I loved had truly become an Angel

forgotten memories begining to form, morphed and shaped they shatter only to be reborn and repieced
in a new world full of chaos and destruction one

And so it those we live with
and should know who elude us
But we can still love them
we can love completely
without complete understanding

Wow, this is a dream of a lifetime. It must have taken you all night to get through it. I got a little lost in the middle and I wasn't sure if you were the lover or the father, I think the words 'coming home with a gift for her lover' led to the confusion.
Cheers

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown
