And after
having asked for truth
I heard silent ruthlessness
nothing left
but to assume
that I am now
unwelcome
here -
at the table where I sat
passing the potatoes that
I had planted previous
as we worked the fields -
as one?

I really am a "guest"
I guess
despite the claims
of genetics
and the circle
I thought grew
diminished
into
meaningless
bubbles that we blew
as kids
on the sides of tubs

when we dreamed
of things  obscene

look/don't look

outside the ring

we were spanked
and put to bed...

as if, to sleep
was something dread--

I have dreams of many things
Horatio cannot conceive--
and some of them are not believed
because they haven't happened yet

colors

I have seen consume
and I became a part of them
like a red, red, rose and dead
is just a state
of nothingness

and not a thing to do

with you

superior with shovels wed

in denial to the earth
and everything begins
with turf
and a sturdy foot and weight
digging dirt of poet's graves...

but spare me these:
the falsities
and all the sonnets I have saved;
for it has naught to do with you
but how I was deemed but a knave
as I swallowed promises
of how I could and would be saved

by affirmations

proclamations

and the grace

of poetry...

sell the lies to someone else
who has not seen what I've seen
and has a brand new hoe, and please
pass the taters on to them:

I'm tired.
I'll send me to bed
and in the morning
rain or shine
I'll pack my rags
and leave behind

nothing

but serenity

and I suspect, applause

because

"ding-dong-dang"

the witch is dead!

But damn--
she took the dog...

there are no promises in life, either in human nature, nor nature itself, which is powerfully full of ups and downs...
but, in the world I live in, there are potatoes and filet, along with a nice walnut salad, mandarine oranges, and a toast of wine...so come sit, and lets pass all the food around the table, taters and all...

You bring out the truth in emotion, giving it a two word meaning...brutal honesty, and that is what I most admire & love about you!  Let alone your writing.... from one low voice to another...

Love ya gal...

I could never stomach sweet food of any kind mixed with non-sweet food.  I can't eat sweet and sour anything...I suppose I take life the same way..don't try to feed me sweetness when your also shoveling the other stuff at me...

Karen..when the dust settles I'll meet you on the other side...and your little dog too!

I know where the soul of those poets are.

love you lady.

I know where
Toto is hiding...

and the last time
I looked...

all I saw was a
puddle
or two.

I couldn't help the smile....even though your words sting.  Love ya, lady!

*
one reason your words
will never become
dead
*

and whatever happened...
cringing here
for when truth and honesty fly away
faster than Toto,
we are all left dangling in dank midair
without the beauty and wisdom
of the best witch

Well you have to know that way up here I ache with this one.  I feel like phoning now and giving those pushing you away from the "tater table" a piece of my mind ala mode even!   I guarantee you if Dorothy ever left that farmhouse the animals would starve both physically and mentally for damn sure.  Push back lady, push hard!  Squatters rights yanno?

You seem to write with your most inner being and with much deep deep expressed emotion here and I really really loved it!

GAWD this kicks poetic butt....powerful, raw emotion throughout, and the ending?! - DAMN!
It's good to read your poetry again - your style, expression and talent always humbles me.

I'm saving this

K, I'm speechless and shaking my head.  I started to say that the writers of a certain well read book didn't do much better than this....most of them got fed to the lions, imprisoned or stoned to death oh, and some, of course, burned at the stake......shaking my head.  You know.....jojo
