last night after midnight
when all the day keepers
turned into night time sleepers
I sat and pondered
life in yonder pond

did that noisey frog croak last night?
it was way too quiet
did that lonely loon find a new mate?
he was way too quiet

and into the night of mist
I missed the sounds I usually hear
and wondered if perhaps
it was just a weakened ear
that somehow failed to tune in
to the wonders of the night time bands
the night time bugs that roam the lands
when the day time keepers
become night time sleepers

and if this makes sense to you
you just might be
a night time lover, too

Kacy i love the night...but you have described your thoughts well....the silence of night and the depth of universal stars has always impressed me..thank you for this midnight rambler poem..

Your innate sense
of what should be
will never dull...

perhaps all were sleeping...

and you, the noctural keeper
of the flames...

stood watch...

Oh yes...I am...my window open always...I know the wondering when a sound is missing.

makes sense to me...

love (and miss) the night sounds of Indiana.  Florida has completely different night sounds.

very cute Kacy!

This was Great!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I love the time between sunset and sunrise; it seems to have a magical feel to it for me.

I have to admit, I really enjoy re-reading this one myself!
