Well Beyond My Reach

A field of broken beauty through, I was led
Whilst the distance held the sound of--I forget
Although I could have walked forever, instead
I felt the soft earth kiss my cheek

Unaware, I saw everything and nothing
This warmth I feel from some sun lost
So forgotten, a little blade of grass
Far buried underneath the frost

Your hand extended before my doubtful stare
Feeling the chains around--I can't say I
And i sighed with my lack of dispair
As my hand felt naught but the wind.

After seconds, I am careful to rise
My silhouette now formed in the ground
And mutinous feet that must be forced
The warmth has left me with all sound

To my footsteps, so silent--like a stone
There is no answer to be heard
Except the one for me and only me
And if I did not know
would I no longer be alone?

This left me feeling very sad, though maybe that was not your intent. You've lost someone you loved, perhaps, by ignoring signs of troubling pending?
