       If you have a god
Who needs men to fight his fights
       He is a weak god
   Unworthy of your worship
Better to make PEACE your god

Uriah,
You could get flack on this one, but I like it.

LOVE this - well said!

I would be a true shame if you got "flack on this one" because you are only conveying that a peaceful, compassionate God is what one should aspire to worship.
I'm with you - war, fighting, injustice are NOT signs of God...This is now my favourite tanka of yours!

Well said Uriah as did Joash in Judges 6.

31And Joash said unto all that stood against him, Will ye plead for Baal? will ye save him? he that will plead for him, let him be put to death whilst it is yet morning: if he be a god, let him plead for himself, because one hath cast down his altar.

If I may disagree for personal reasons. God does not need man to fight his fights. It is however the man of faith who fights for what he believes in. God will not die if man doesn’t fight “his battles” as you put it. You also said He is not worthy of worship and rather we should worship peace. Well, my understanding is that God is peace. So content aside, I enjoy your poetry and respect what you have to say. Cheers
