I whispered to him
that he wasn’t who he should be.
He didn’t hear, taking care
to bare himself for the redemption of me.

Beautiful man that I cannot resist.
You are not something to be missed.
Yet I fight to understand
how this, my wandering hand, can be the same
as twenty hail Mary’s for the damned.

Surely, I will need to repent ever more?

I woke to find him gone, taking all hope
of everlasting with him.
Dear God, “who should ever believeth in him..”

I smiled as I bobbed my head.
I believe.

In his powerful biceps.
Oh so beautiful full lips.

I wish to sleep.
This time hoping I find
the chalice filled to brim, so I may bring
myself to drink from it more fully,
again and again.

I loved this, and Karen's reply...

Beautiful man that I cannot resist.
You are not something to be missed.
Yet I fight to understand
how this, my wandering hand, can be the same
as twenty hail Mary’s for the damned.

and this.....

I wish to sleep.
This time hoping I find
the chalice filled to brim, so I may bring
myself to drink from it more fully,
again and again.

hun, I slept all the way through at times, and they were the most life changing experiences for me...to say the least...sign around my neck and all...

enjoy life and the moments given...

You are a treasure...

Susan

To feel this connection, almost holly, to a human man....could feel it.  Nicely done!

Sacred passion and your poem is a beautiful redemption itself.

I admit, this is not what it may seem...but I will let the readers take what they will from it.

Karen?  I adore your chalice! Bring it over!

Martie?  Thank you for being you as you are a light around here.

LeeJ? You are always there responding and saying so much.   Thank you!

Margherita, thank you for your sweet words as well!

This takes me to a place.....let's just say, keep dreaming, because once in a while they do come true.

I enjoyed your provocative take here on 'redeeming qualities' being comparable to a wandering hand... Smiles. At times, hands can be such a nuisance can't they? Again, enjoyed reading.

the dreamlover
for me
is merely just that
a dream
best left
on the other side

(they become so icky
when they stick around too long, ya know? )

love your style

Excellent write open to so many interpretations but I'm thinking that Mysteria and I might be on the same wavelength.

Thank you so much for all the wonderful responses and I must say, I have enjoyed the different perspectives.  Which is what makes writing/reading great. The larger (and more diverse) the crowd the more diverse the responses.

Susan

you write with such wonder....I enjoy your words much my friend....

And so it those we live with
and should know who elude us
But we can still love them
we can love completely
without complete understanding

In one of your replies you wrote: "I admit, this is not what it may seem...but I will let the readers take what they will from it."

Good! Because I really like what I have taken from your poem!

Susan, you are not only an extraordinarily fine writer ~ you are an extraordinarily fine woman with depth and beauty.

Sending you a big hug,

Linda
