Yeah, yeah, yeah, and love reviled
no honour to the soul
on its after midnight rise
into consciousness
and it bears this punch and kick
like a stalwart soldier trained
to duck and dive, retaliate
in ways I cannot know.

To find again true form and shape
like trying to cut through steel
with the rays of hopeful eyes
or lifting covers heavy
from insightful minds
because soul not made to fight
chooses rather to lay down
extraordinary penalties
on dismissive humankind.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I’m human too
and who on earth can bow
to an after midnight rise
of the now unknown?

Yet soul still leaves a trail
of happiness and pain
begging, pleading, follow me
but everybody knows
leaders loiter in the background
goading and encouraging
soldiers into battle.

There’s a trick – yeah, yeah,
sleep before the midnight rise
and you’ll never have to bend
individual will
into the betterment of all.

Thanks, Dixie.  You see, finding soul sort of demands that you bend but to sleep on the surface of existence and, wow, who knows what will happen to life.

I have a feeling there is so much more
behind this rendering...

"with the rays of hopeful eyes" ~ and your little bag of tricks, you can overcome and master anything that you should so choose!

Margherita, Sunshine, and Linda - thank you so much for reading.

Dave - I'm not sure here but the wanting to and choosing not to maybe a little bit of avoidance ... of thought ~ guilt perhaps ~ but, hey, we're all human.

And Sunshine I think there's always more behind each and every penning on the board - some make it obvious and some not so.

Linda - Yes, perhaps the secret is not what befalls but the overcoming thereof.

Marherita - Your comment is much appreciated.  Thanks.

Enjoyed the read.
