Someone

Everyone has someone
I have no one
I don't even have myself.
The sun rises in my rear view mirror
going nowhere
moving backward, forward
into nothing
and rests there, limp, broken.

I twist the dagger in my own heart
I couldn't save my love
and I have no one to save me.

I wanted to be so many things
I couldn't be
and yet, I perform no longer
for this shallow applause
long mute and dormant echoing.

This ocean of restless waves
crashes against the stones
washing up weeds,
dead shells
and driftwood
from within my soul,
and covers me with
the agony of white foam.

My being is fruitless and weathered
touch is not tangible anymore.

This is the very heart of me
that hurts like roots torn out
forever raw in the ground
life cut too short, too soon -
no purpose
no rich, deep earth to save.

Homeless like the wind
I moan through bare trees
as if I have never known a summer
and will never see a spring
yet bringing only snow.

Intellectually I know that Canada is no better than any other country. Emotionally I KNOW that Canada is the best country in the world!

Very well written...emotionally full.
Everyone does have someone, and only someone...
For until our own hearts are sated, we cannot give abundance to another.
Nice work.

"I moan through bare trees
as if I have never known a summer"

Particularly like the above but enjoyed your whole poem very much.  We always have someone but perhaps not the someone we need or think we need.

The crushing feel
of your emotions
is a coverlet
of emotion,
felt...
and known
by many.

Well done, little one.

This is lovely!

To me, the last line should be "for I bring only snow"....but that is pure subjectivity, really enjoyed the read, cheers =o)
