Feeling so much emptiness,
all these things words cannot explain.
Inexplicable tiredness that will never go away.
My heart is so hollowed out,
the pressure boiling down.
I can't feel normal,
not now, not then.
Pain isn't a symptom,
it happens to be a way of life.
If I could only be mute for a day,
I'd have time to think,
of all the things I should have done,
everything I've done wrong.
Reflections of the destruction of my innocence,
my youth thrown away.
These bricks on my shoulders aren't getting any lighter,
gaining more and more weight each and every day,
as I try to climb the stairs to freedom,
my only way to escape.
My heavy heart acts like an anchor,
dropping me back to the hell that was meant for me.

One step, one thought,  one day at a time.
That is all you can give, all you can ask
for.

I really feel like you encompassed how heavy and down people can be on themselves at times.

I think this line said it best,
"Pain isn't a symptom,
it happens to be a way of life."

But all you really can do is grin and bear it and then eventually try to forget it.

Well, from the title I would have expected something else.

While reading I felt the pull downwards, dear Sara, which shows how much you charged this piece with powerful feeling.

Our soul tends towards the light, so after experiencing the depth of sadness and pain, there is this other pole of attraction, which acts with the most powerful "substance" that we are given: LOVE. The only thing we have to do is allow our heart to open to love, to feel the flow of love, which is the true "matter of life".

Very well written.

Love,
Margherita

SarBear,

Excellent expression of this feeling!  It is a feeling or emptiness many have experienced.  A friend told me the way out of it, is to find the self in yourself-- To do the things that made you feel special before that true love came to be.  It isn't easy, but I think she was right.  She said to start out small, doing just one thing a day that I used to like to do--maybe for only fifteen minutes.  Fifteen minutes of time without thoughts of him... Doing something little for yourself, as little as polishing your toenails with a different polish.

We do not know the whole picture until years go by.  Several times, I thought I would never see certain people again, and years later, I find they've re-entered my life.   We never know.  Good luck to you.

Sara, I think most people feel this way at some point:
"Inexplicable tiredness that will never go away"
but the great thing about life is that  each day is a new day and what we feel one day or for a few can change by something that happens the next day, a kind word to us or even one to another( sometimes brightening someone elses day helps make ours better)

Believe me when I say life is full of ups and downs and lessons to be learned...but dwell on the pleasant...let the unpleasant slip away into yesterday.

I enjoyed your words this morning, well done
